Join us at Elsevier's 4th Water Research Conference "The Role of Water technology innovation in the Blue Economy" from September 10 to 13, 2017, in Waterloo, Ontario.
This international water conference aims to highlight, discuss and advance state-of-the-art thinking and research to support the transition towards a Blue Economy, in particular the role of water science and technological innovation in fostering sustainable water use.
The winners of the AquaHacking 2017 Challenge will be announced on the final day of the conference.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND THE SUMMIT?
Scientists, experts in the water field and multi-stakeholder organizations involved in the management and conservation of Lake Erie, heads of sustainable development and social responsibility within public and private sectors, elected officials, municipalities, students, techies and citizens interested in the health of the Great Lakes and the St. Lawrence Basin.
The keynote speakers
M. David Heurtel was appointed minister of Sustainable Development, Environment and the Fight against Climate Change on April 23, 2014.
He is also a member of the Committee for the Implementation of the Maritime Strategy, the Plan Nord Committee, and the Economic and Sustainable Development Committee, making him a key player in advising the government on transitioning to a greener economy and a society more resilient to climate change impacts.

Former member of Parliament and federal minister, Mr. Coderre was elected mayor of Montréal in 2013. Mr. Coderre is also president of the Montreal Metropolitan Community, which includes all the municipalities of the Montréal urban area. He is also co-chair of Metropolis as well as Climate Change Ambassador to this association of cities.
During the Summit, Mr. Coderre will speak about the city's innovations aiming to improve the water quality of the river.

M. Labeaume a été élu la première fois en 2007 maire de Québec et réélu en 2009 et 2013 à la tête d’une équipe majoritaire. Auparavant, il a dirigé la Fondation de l'entrepreneurship et a œuvré pendant plusieurs années en innovation technologique dans la région de Québec.
Lors du Sommet, M. Labeaume présentera les figures de proue de sa ville en matière de gestion des eaux.

Bio-ecologist, ecological economist, former Director and Professor Emeritus of the University of British Columbia’s School of Community and Regional Planning, Mr. Rees is the originator of ‘ecological footprint analysis’. Prof Rees has authored over 160 peer reviewed and numerous popular articles on sustainability policy (or lack thereof).
Mr. Rees is a founding member and former President of the Canadian Society for Ecological Economics; a founding Director of the One Earth Initiative; and a Fellow of the Post-Carbon Institute.
